This year’s donations will support the Sheltering Arms Institute in Richmond, Virginia, where I am a patient. Sheltering Arms is the preeminent physical rehabilitation hospital on the East Coast, providing life-changing support to patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Our support will assist Sheltering Arms in acquiring the tools and technology to help patients recover abilities and conquer challenges once thought impossible, with a specific emphasis on equipment to support MS patients.

I witness these mini miracles weekly, and can attest that these pieces of equipment have a profound impact on patients' functionality, mobility, and overall morale.

For instance, the first time I used a zero-gravity treadmill at Sheltering Arms, I cried. It was the first time—in years—I was able to run fast, without fear of falling. Step by step, it is helping me re-train that neuro-muscular connection, regain some of what I've lost, and hopefully, get back to doing what I love most—-running.
